Tanwar is the party’s MLA from Chhatarpur.
Previous raids have revealed unaccounted cash and jewellery of nearly Rs 1 crore from Tanwar and his brother, News18 reported. Tanwar has reacted with the classic AAP response – that it is an attack by the BJP led Central government. Tanwar is a former BJP leader, before he switched sides in 2014.
IT sources said that Tanwar and his business associates had bought houses in Chattarpur and Ghitorni in cash, and they had not paid stamp duty and registration fee on huge land transactions.
He is also accused of allegedly showing money from land deal as loans and advances in companies controlled by him – he reportedly has 30 to 35 companies he uses to conduct these transaction. Documents found show unaccounted and benami properties – a total valuation of his illegitimate assets is being undertaken, along with unexplained and unaccounted expenses on construction of a mall, residential houses, marriage expenses and farm houses.
