Allies assure PM Shehbaz of support in upcoming legislation

In Islamabad, coalition partners at the center have assured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of their full support for important legislation in parliament in the coming days.
The Prime Minister hosted a dinner for coalition partners, with representatives from all parties in the center except the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) attending.
The PPP did not attend the dinner, citing a meeting at the President’s House as the reason for their absence.
Representatives from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) were present at the event.
Sources mentioned that PM Shehbaz requested cooperation from coalition partners on important legislation.
He emphasized the need for support from allies for key legislation and reaffirmed his commitment to parliamentary supremacy.
During a briefing on the nation’s economic state, PM Shehbaz highlighted the government’s efforts to prevent the country from defaulting when the PDM took over power.
The coalition partners reiterated their support for PM Shehbaz’s leadership and government decisions, praising his performance.
The Prime Minister instructed all government members not to leave Islamabad, stressing the importance of collective support for government decisions, including legislation.
A state-run news agency reported that the Prime Minister credited the economic progress to the government’s efforts since April 2022 to save the country from default.
He mentioned that economic experts predict a further decline in the inflation rate in the current month, which is good news for the nation. PM Shehbaz also noted that in 2018, the government left with a single-digit inflation rate.
