Awareness, effective planning and preparedness key to deal with natural disasters: Maryam Nawaz

In Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of awareness, effective planning, and preparedness in dealing with natural disasters.
On the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, she announced that the Punjab government was implementing plans to address emergency situations using the latest technology to protect citizens. The government was also working on measures to reduce the risks of natural disasters.
These measures included addressing climate change risks, upgrading control rooms of relevant departments to handle natural calamities, and developing the PDMA using the latest technology.
In addition, the Punjab government had introduced air ambulance and motorway ambulance services. Maryam Nawaz promised to prioritize the safety of citizens by implementing effective measures against natural disasters. She highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns and community cooperation for better disaster management.
Maryam Nawaz expressed her vision of creating a safe, secure, and sustainable environment for future generations by eliminating threats from natural disasters.
The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is being observed today, focusing on the role of education in protecting and empowering children for a disaster-free future. Many disasters, exacerbated by climate change, pose significant threats to the well-being of children and youth.
