With only two days remaining before the upcoming elections, political parties in Pakistan are making vigorous efforts to attract voters. Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has made a significant promise of development if her party is elected into power. She delivered this statement while addressing a political gathering in Murree.

This pledge comes at a time when many political parties, including the PML-N, have centered their election campaigns on improving the socio-economic conditions in the country. Pakistan is currently grappling with economic challenges such as a weakening local currency, depleting foreign exchange reserves, and other factors.

Both the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are competing for votes in Punjab, the largest province in the country. Both parties have been emphasizing their economic agendas to appeal to voters who have been adversely affected by high inflation.

Maryam Nawaz, who is leading the PML-N’s election campaign and is contesting in her first-ever general election, reiterated the provisions of the party’s election manifesto titled “Pakistan ko Nawaz do.” She stressed the importance of deciding the future for the next generations.

The PML-N’s manifesto aims to reduce electricity bills by 20-30% and achieve a 6% GDP growth target. It also includes goals of $60 billion worth of exports, $40 billion in remittances, and reducing the poverty level from 38% to 25% within five years.

Maryam Nawaz urged the crowd to vote for the lion, which is the PML-N’s electoral symbol, in order to solve their problems. She expressed surprise at the large gathering despite harsh weather conditions and promised to address the issues faced by the people of Murree. She also mentioned the need to tackle the timber and possession mafias in the city, stating that the party is committed to serving the people of Murree day and night.
