Flight operation to Europe to be milestone for PIA privatisation: Aleem Khan

Abdul Aleem Khan, the Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, expressed his approval for the start of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to Europe.

He mentioned that people are now confident about being able to travel to Europe using PIA soon. This development is seen as a significant step towards privatizing PIA.

There is hope that PIA may also start operating flights to the United Kingdom and United States, which will enhance the organization’s credibility and marketability.

Abdul Aleem Khan stated that various obstacles in the privatization process of PIA have been resolved, and the remaining tasks will be completed promptly.

He shared that the IMF has agreed to abolish the 18% sales tax on new aircraft purchases for PIA buyers and transfer PIA’s losses to a Holding Company.

This will eliminate PIA’s liabilities and old debts, making the organization more attractive for investors. The privatization of PIA is progressing rapidly, and there will soon be positive news about transferring PIA to the private sector.
