Iraq calls on Iran envoy as rebuke to ally for deadly strikes
Iraq has taken decisive measures against Iran in response to the devastating missile strikes on its autonomous Kurdish region. In light of these attacks, Iraq has summoned Iran’s envoy in Baghdad and recalled its ambassador from Tehran. The strikes, allegedly aimed at Israel’s intelligence services, were purportedly carried out in retaliation for recent Israeli assassinations of Iranian and pro-Iranian commanders. However, Iraq vehemently disputes this claim and intends to file a complaint with the UN Security Council, highlighting the Iranian attack on its sovereignty. Notably, the missile strikes also targeted alleged Daesh group targets in Syria.
The international community, particularly the United States, has unequivocally condemned these attacks. Consequently, tensions in the Middle East have reached a boiling point as Israel confronts its nemesis, Iran’s ally Hamas. Tragically, the missile strikes resulted in the loss of four lives and left six individuals injured in Iraqi Kurdistan. Among the victims was the esteemed real estate magnate Peshraw Dizayee and his family, whose untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the region.
Iran, on the other hand, has staunchly defended its actions, asserting that the missile strikes were a targeted operation and a just retribution against those who pose a threat to its security. Nevertheless, Iraq remains resolute in its pursuit of justice and will not allow its sovereignty to be violated with impunity.
It is imperative that the international community takes cognizance of this grave situation and supports Iraq’s efforts to address this flagrant violation of its territorial integrity. The missile strikes not only pose a direct threat to Iraq but also exacerbate the already volatile situation in the Middle East. As such, it is crucial for the UN Security Council to thoroughly investigate this matter and hold Iran accountable for its actions.
In these trying times, it is essential for all nations involved to exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate tensions. The stability of the region hangs in the balance, and it is incumbent upon all parties
