JI announces nationwide protest against inflated bills on Aug 28
KARACHI: The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, has announced a nationwide protest on August 28. He expressed concerns about the rising cost of electricity, high taxes, and the financial burden on traders and salaried individuals.
Naeemur Rehman criticized certain Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for exploiting the public and demanded a reduction in electricity prices.
He also criticized the government for what he called a superficial reduction in electricity prices, stating that it was not enough.
Naeemur Rehman highlighted the disparity in electricity prices between Punjab and Sindh, questioning why the reduction was not implemented in Sindh.
He also criticized the distribution of seats in the National Assembly, claiming that parties like MQM received seats without winning votes in Karachi. Naeemur Rehman vowed to challenge the electricity mafia and gain support from traders in their cause.
