RAWALPINDI: The fate of several people accused of involvement in the May 9 incidents has been decided after a year and a half, with the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announcing their convictions.

The military courts have convicted 25 people, as reported by the army’s media wing. The ISPR stated that the nation witnessed politically-motivated acts of vandalism and violence on May 9, which was described as one of the darkest chapters in the country’s history.

The ISPR collected strong evidence against the convicts before announcing the sentences. The ISPR emphasized the importance of preventing political terrorism through violence and coercion.

The ISPR called the convictions a significant step towards justice and mentioned that the sentences for the remaining accused individuals are also being processed.

The Field General Court Martial (FGCM) examined all evidence, granted legal rights to the accused, and completed due process before announcing the sentences for the first 25 individuals.

The ISPR warned against taking the law into one’s own hands and falling for political propaganda in the future.
