(Web Desk) – Road safety is a key to an accident-free life. A country like Pakistan where roads take numerous lives on daily basis, people need to strictly follow driving-related rules and regulations. Keeping this need in view, an informative workshop was held in Karachi in which students from educational institutions and DIG motorway Muhammad Saleem took part. Awareness campaigns need to be held more regularly as they make people especially youth aware of road safety.
Around 15000 people die of accident annually in Pakistan; this is quite a big and horrific figure, more than the number of people die terrorism.
Young generation especially should attend these workshops and pledge to save their lives by following the derived rules.
DIG talking to the ceremony said around 50 per cent accidents are of bike-riders. Their failure to wear helmet can cost them their life. Motorcycles’ accidents are quite grim and in 90 per cent cases the rider can be saved if the put on helmets.
Students after taking part in the ceremony said it is better to follow safety rules and most important of all wear helmet. Another went on to say we should think of our kith and kin during driving as our carelessness can cause havoc on them. It is better to be safe.
