Asma murder case: ATC awards life sentence to accused Mohammad Nabi

 MARDAN: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday handed down life term to suspect Mohammad Nabi in Asma Rape cum Murder case.

ATC judge heard the case and handed down life imprisonment to the suspect and a fine of Rs.1 Million.

Earlier, police had apprehended two suspects after DNA match were conducted on Tuesday last.

After receiving the forensic report sent to KPK police and raids were conducted in which police arrested the two suspects.

Member of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in Asma Murder Case Falak Niaz told both suspects were family relatives of the victim. The JIT member informed that the suspects were labourers by occupation who lived near the residence of Asma. He further said that as many as 300 people had been interrogated in the case.

It’s pertinent to mention here that of the 145 suspects’ DNAs collected within the vicinity of 2-3 KM radius of Asma’s residence, only one matched with suspect Mohammad Nabi.

The four-year-old Asma had gone missing on January 14, 2018 in Mardan’s Gujar Garhi area, and her body was retrieved from sugarcane fields near her house next day.
