CJP expresses resentment over absence of prime accused in NICL case

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday has expressed resentment over absence of accused Mohsin Warraich in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) case.

During the hearing at Supreme Court (SC) Lahore registry, CJP said “I know how to arrest the suspect as we have to adopt the same strategy that was used to detain Rao Anwar.”

The court has also sought weekly report of the references under hearing in Lahore and Karachi, clarifying that not a single day delay in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references will be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Federal Investigation Agency official stated that all the possible technical steps are being taken to apprehend the accused.

Earlier, Ayaz Khan Niazi was arrested from the SC premises after his bailed was cancelled.

CJP asked him if he owns a casino in Dubai and whether Makhdoom Amin Faheem appointed him. Ayaz Niazi told the court that while Makhdoom Faheem appointed him, he does not own any casino.

The five-year-old scam involves financial embezzlement by former NICL chairperson Ayaz Khan Niazi, Mohsin Habib Warraich, then commerce minister (late) Makhdoom Amin Fahim, and several others regarding purchase of the official land.
