ISLAMABAD: Accountability court in Islamabad has adjourned the hearing of Avenfield properties reference against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family without any proceedings till Monday.

The hearing was adjourned due to absence of justice Mohammad Bashir.

According to details, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Captain (r) Safdar, Hasil Bizenjo and Mahmood Khan Achakzai reached the court. 

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif said that being behind bars cannot stop him from leading his people. He said he does not want any such situation, but if it does occur, people will respond to his call even if he is sent to jail.

He further said that the NAB ordinance was made to target politicians. “When I was Attock Jail, NAB was formed,” he informed.

He supported the democratic process and said that he does not want any mishap in the country. He said he wants to see the process of development not getting interrupted by any force.

Previously, head of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Wajid Zia had told the accountability court that the team had not found any evidence showing Nawaz received salary from Capital FZE company but it was mentioned that the employee collected money of July in August 2013.

Defence lawyer Khawaja Harris asked head of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Wajid Zia that who had changed the salary of Nawaz Sharif from 1lac dirham to 10,000 dirham on the documents over which, JIT head said that he doesn’t know, adding that the actual amount was higher than declared.

He said that Nawaz’s contract was not prepared in front of him and that the statement of the person who stamped the papers was also not recorded.

Khawaja Harris argued the report stated that two JIT members came to receive documents of FZE Company over which Zia said that it was mentioned in paragraph 7 of Volume 1.
