ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan and chief of Justice and Democracy Party Iftikhar Chaudhry approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday requesting details of assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In an application to the ECP, Iftikhar Chaudhry requested details of the prime minister’s assets from 2008 to 2015.
He writes, “The prime minister has defied article 62 and 63 of the constitution by hiding his assets.”
The two articles of the constitution deal with basic good morals that are required for any person who holds office in the government and can be disqualified if he deceives the public.
After receiving details of the assets, Chaudhry will file a request for the prime minister’s resignation in the court, his lawyer Sheikh Ahsan ud Din said.
