Infant dies due to alleged tear gas shelling in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: An infant died of alleged tear gas shelling in Friday’s clash between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Awami Muslim League (AML) and police at Rawalpindi’s Committee Chowk.

The new born identified as Abu Bakar lost his life due to suffocation by tear gas, the parents claimed.

Preliminary report of the sad mishap sent to provincial government stated that the death was not occurred due to shelling.

Medical Superintendent of Benazir Bhutto Hospital uttered different story and said that the baby was ill but the bereaved family revealed that ‘tear gas’ was mentioned as a cause of death in the certificate.

On the other hand, PTI chief Imran Khan expressed great grief and blamed Punjab government for the baby’s death.
