IHC directs Interior Ministry to place US diplomat’s name in ECL

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed Interior Ministry for putting US diplomat Colonel Joseph’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) in case pertaining to killing a youth in road accident.

Further tightening noose against the US diplomat, IHC judge Justice Aamir Farooq while pronouncing reserved verdict on plea filed by the youth Ateeq’s father.

The court while directing the Interior Ministry for putting Colonel Joseph’s name in the ECL asked the ministry to take decision in this regard in two weeks.

The court remarked that the US diplomat doesn’t have complete immunity.

It is pertinent here to mention that deceased Ateeq’s father had filed an application with the interior ministry for placing US diplomat’s name in the ECL.

The federal ministry had also blacklisted Col Joseph.
