KARACHI: A female worker of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) identified as Asma Rizvi was detained by police following ugly feud at Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Karachi office.

As per details acquired, Ms Rizvi—who was accompanying PTI’s candidate Dr Seema Zia—exchanged heated argument with ECP’s officials and broke the glass of Sindh Election Commissioner Yousuaf Khattak’s office. The ECP official called the police and ordered arrest of PTI worker.

“Whoever is involved should be arrested,” Khattak told media persons.

Eyewitnesses stated that PTI workers tried to force their way into the office of the commissioner but were halted by the security guards.  


Last day for filing nomination papers


haudhry Nisar, Khawaja Asif, Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Pervez Malik, Rohail Asghar and Shafqat Mehmood on Sunday submitted their nomination papers in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as last date approaches.

As per details, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Shafqat Mehmood will contest election from NA-130, PML-N Kh Asif will contest election from NA-73 and Saad Rafique from NA-131 and NA-129.

Disgruntled PML-N’s leader Ch Nisar will contest election from NA-59 for National Assembly’s seat whereas he will contest from PP-10 and PP-12 for provincial assembly’s seats.

Maryam Nawaz—who spearheaded his mother campaign during NA-120 by-poll—will contest election from NA-127 whereas his cousin Hamza Shehbaz will contest election from NA-124.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will contest election from NA-132.

Kh Asif—while talking to media—took a jibe at those leaders who switch loyalties and termed the phenomenon as black event for democracy.
