LAHORE: Nurses continued to defy Punjab government and went ahead with their sit-in protest on Chairing Cross, Mall Road on Friday.
The nurses’ sit-in protest at Lahore has now entered its fifth day. According to details, the sit-in protest caused difficulties for citizens as it affected traffic on Mall Road.
However, the nurses were divided into two groups as some nurses had discontinued their protest after conducting successful negotiations with the provincial government last night. However, the other group continues to protest till the fulfillment of their demands.
“Our demands were that nurses’ jobs be made permanent and they be granted professional allowance,” said participants. “These demands were not accepted by the government.”
Meanwhile, a large quantity of nurses had also carried out a protest in front of the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar on Thursday as well as on Friday for the fulfillment of their demands.
Adviser to the Punjab Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique had issued a stern warning that strict action would be taken against those who were instigating the nurses to protest.
