KARACHI : Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday decided not to put forth its candidate for Sindh Chief Minister (CM) nominations while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Khurram Sher Zaman will stand against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) nominated candidate Murad Ali Shah, Utv Pakistan Report
The time frame for receipt of nominations papers for Sindh CM ended at 4 o’ clock, Murad Ali Shah from PPP submitted forms while Jam Mehtab Hussain and Dr. Sikander Mendhro will be the covering candidates of Murad.
On the other side, MQM had decided not be a part of the electoral process and refrained putting forth any candidate for Sindh CM. The party will neither support any party nor stand against any other party.
PTI member Khurram Sher submitted his papers as Sindh CM. PPP had decided not to conduct any secret poll regarding the selection. The elections will be held through division-poll.
Earlier this day, MQM’s parliamentary party members’ held a meeting which lasted more than 4 hours. Talking to media, MQM parliamentary leader Syed Sardar Ahmad announced that MQM will not be a party to Sindh CM contest.
Sindh assembly opposition leader Khwaja Izharul Hassan said that changing faces could never change policies and Sindh government will continue to show such non-serious attitude. MQM leaders stated that the party believed in a partnership based on democracy and that MQM did not believe in current democratic system.
