ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been disqualified for life following incomplete trial.
“Elected PM is disqualified first and verdict comes later. This decision will also be rejected by the public. PML-N voters should not lose hope,” she asserted.
Her statement came after Supreme Court announced a historic verdict ruling that disqualification under Article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution is for life. The judgement renders both Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen ineligible to ever hold public office.
Speaking to media, Marriyum while giving a stern response said that the present verdict is the same due to which Bhutto was awarded death sentence and Benazir was martyred.
“No accusation has been proved in the accountability court. The verdict that has been declared by the SC is still under trial in NAB court. There is also no proof that Nawaz Sharif received salary from his son,” she added.
She criticized that unknown men decide over the politics of elected PM. “JIT was formed on Whatsapp call. Who leaked the picture of Hussain Nawaz? The same verdict also came against Nawaz in plane hijack case,” said Marriyum.
She maintained that the real decision will be taken by the people of Pakistan.
