ISLAMABAD: At least 19 politicians, including former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Mir Zafarullah Jamali, were summoned to appear before Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in person or through their counsel on Monday in Asghar Khan case. However, no politician appeared before FIA or submitted reply through their counsel.
Sources said that the FIA will submit a report in the Supreme Court of Pakistan over this new scenario to seek apex court guidance.
The FIA had summoned 19 politicians to appear on Monday to record their statements in Asghar Khan case. Those who were issued notices included, Nawaz Sharif, Zafarullah Jamali, Syeda Abida Hussain, MQM-London chief, Javed Hashmi, Sarwar Khan Kakar, Hasil Bazinjo, Nadeem Mengal, Muzzafar Hussain Shah, Ghulam Ali Nizamani, Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Liaquat Jatoi, Imtiaz Sheikh, Jam Mashooq, Jam Haider, Humayun Marri, Dost Muhammad Faizi and journalist Altaf Hussain Qureshi.
It is pertinent to mention here that the hearing of Asghar Khan case will be held in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry today (Tuesday).
