ISLAMABAD: Giving a clear message to the opponents, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday asserted that no power can shake the accountability watchdog.
“NAB didn’t take any vengeful or bias action, but I would like to clarify here that we are not concerned either elections will take place or not. If you have committed corruption, you are answerable before and after the election,” the NAB chairman told journalists in Islamabad.
“If anyone proves that NAB has acted with bias, I will take full responsibility and quit this seat,” he vowed.
Signaling initiation of more inquiries, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal said action is being taken against several persons. Recently, some have been suspended, arrested, and removed from their posts.
“I am fully aware of the situation, however, this process will take some time. All NAB cases will be taken to their logical conclusion,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is investigation allegations of corruption and money laundering cases against prominent personalities including ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and former DG LDA Ahad Cheema.
Recently, the accountability watchdog also initiated probe into misuse of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government’s helicopter by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
