ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan strongly condemned the heinous suicide car bomb attack outside a stadium in Helmand Province when people were leaving the stadium after watching a wrestling match on Friday.

“We are grieved at the loss of precious and innocent lives in this brutal act of terrorism”, said a Foreign Office statement issued here on Saturday.

“We express our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Pakistan also reiterateed its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations and expresses solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan in this hour of grief and sorrow. 

At least 14 people were killed and 42 others sustained injuries when a suicide attacker drove a car full of explosives into a crowd leaving an evening wrestling match on Friday in southern Afghanistan.

Omar Zwak, the spokesman for the governor of Helmand Province, said the bomber struck about 7 p.m. at a field in the provincial capital, Lashkar Gah, where a traditional wrestling match drawing hundreds of spectators had just ended.

He said the dead and wounded included many children, and some of the wounded were in critical condition.
