LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Parliamentary Board in its first meeting on Saturday reached consensus to stand firm against the elements wishing delay in the upcoming general election.
The meeting PML-N’s Parliamentary Board first meeting was held at Chief Minister House in Model Town with Shehbaz Sharif in chair and attended by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq and other members.
Speaking to the participants, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif said that the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections would be shortlisted on purely merit basis and loyalty with the party.
The PML-N supremo and other members also vowed that election should be held on time, adding that the delay in election for minute would be tolerated.
“Holding elections on time is necessary for the democracy,” he said and added a report published by London based magazine Economist is not harmful for upcoming general election 2018.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that the voters will take revenge from the turncoats, adding that the PML-N has one narrative “respect for vote”.
“No conspiracy can break the PML-N and the party’s vote bank has not divided.”
The PML-N’s Parliamentary Board also appointed former minister for information and broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb as party’s spokeswoman.
She said that she would try to deliver party’s stance to the masses in a best possible way.
