ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday approved appointment of Mirza Aslam Baig as Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), reported Dunya News.
Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday took a notice of appointment of Mirza Aslam Baig against aforementioned seat while dismissing govt’s plea.
Govt adopted the stance that PEMRA chairman would ensure equal and transparent coverage of general elections 2018. On the other hand, ECP stated that the appointment of PEMRA chairman was clear violation of ban imposed by the electoral body on recruitment.
ECP further added that appointment against said position should be made after elections.
