ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have planned to stage full protest against budget 2018-2019 in National Assembly today (Friday).
According to details, a proper strategy in this regard will also been prepared during a meeting of parliamentary party.
Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 with an estimated outlay of Rs 5.5 trillion will be presented in the parliament today, with a likely increase of salary and pension of government employees by 15 percent.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail will present the budget where tax revenue target would be around Rs 4.5 trillion.
As per details, defense budget size would be proposed to nearly Rs 1.050 trillion, whereas, an amount of Rs 1.550 trillion is likely to be allocated to service debt and principal payment.
The government is likely to give nearly Rs 2565 billion to provinces which will be consumed for social safety, reduction in poverty, health and education sectors.
Earlier, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail had unveiled the economy’s performance over fiscal year 2017-18.
they said that the growth rate remained highest at 5.79 percent in the last 13 years, while inflation rate reduced to 3.8 percent from 7.89 percent.
Giving details, Miftah said that the agriculture grew 3.8 percent, while export the export sector improved after the package was announced. “We are proud of fulfillment of promises we made to the people,” said Miftah, adding that development expenditures surged due to electricity projects launched by taking loans. “We have allocated Rs 100 billion for development expenditures for the next government.”
