ISLAMABAD: Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief retired Lt. General Asad Durrani’s co-authoring a book with a former Indian spy came under discussion during a session of the upper house of Parliament today.
Gen Durrani and former chief of Indian Raw A S dulat have jointly authored the book “The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace,” which will soon be launched.
PPP Senator Mian Raza Rabbani speaking in the house said retired chiefs of Pakistan and Indian spy agencies have jointly authored a book. Had a politician co-authored a book with Indians, he would have been declared traitor, he opined.
Did General Durrani take permission from the government or his institution before authoring such a book, former Senate chairman posed a query.
Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, meanwhile, directed the Ministry of Defence to submit its report on the book.
Separately, speaking to the media earlier today, former premier Nawaz Sharif demanded that an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), the country’s top civil-military body, should be summoned to discuss the content of the book.
