Ruet-i-Hilal Committee meets today for Eid moon sighting

KARACHI: A meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee for sighting of Eid moon will be convened in Karachi today (Thursday).

The meeting will be presided over by Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

Beside the Central Ruet-e-Hial Committee, zonal committees will hold meetings in the provincial headquarters to collect evidence regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon.

A formal announcement regarding Eid-ul-Fitr will be made after evidence of moon sighting is collected from different parts of the country.

Met Office has maintained that the new moon of Shawwal has been born on crossing conjunction point on the night between Wednesday and Thursday

According to astronomical parameters, there is a slight chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal,1439 AH on the evening of Thursday.
The age of the moon today will be 19 hours which is impossible to view. For sighting, it is necessary that the moon should be 22 hours old.

However; 20 percent chances exist that the moon will be apparent at the coastal belt of Balochistan. Climate record suggests that the weather is expected fair/partly cloudy in most parts of the country.
