KARACHI: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Saturday directed Sindh government to bulldoze all encroachments and illegal buildings including marriage halls.
The hearing of the case was held at SC Karachi Registry today.
As per details garnered, the court directed officials concerned to flatten all buildings except swimming pools, tennis courts, squash building and other sports venues. The court also directed to take back football ground, located at Shahrah-e-Qaideen, from squatters.
While warning Sindh government against illegal constructions on welfare plots, court instructed Sindh government to restore all recreational venues including parks in their original form at earliest.
Furthermore, the apex court ordered officials concerned to present computerized and sealed record of Sindh’s revenue department within one month.
This case against squatters was filed by Karachi’s former mayor Niamatullah Khan several years ago.
