ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) on Friday has issued notices to as many as 222 companies in a case pertaining to loan write-off.

According to details, the registrar office dispatched notices to the presidents of the companies including Bank of Khyber, Habib bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan, IDBP banks, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), SME bank, United and Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan.

It was learnt that these companies wrote-off the loans worth Rs35 billion after which SC ordered to send them notices on the recommendation of the commission’s Justice (r) Jamshed.

Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had promised to take back money from those who had their loans written-off through influence.

Justice Saqib directed to submit details of all those who took loans from government banks and had them written-off. 

CJP also asked Governor State Bank of Pakistan if there is a way to bring back all the money. Governor SBP informed the court that there is no such clause in TORs.
