LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has on Saturday stopped all government universities to grant affiliation to new law colleges and ordered the vice chancellors (VCs) to conduct inspections of the colleges first.

The two-member bench that conducted the hearing against the low standard law colleges at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry was headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar.

Vice chancellors from across the country appeared before the court. Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that entry test for lawyers should be removed if people continue to pass through cheating, as there is no use of such systems.

The CJP expressed annoyance over non-appointment of a permanent vice chancellor of the Punjab University (PU) and immediately summoned the chief secretary of Punjab in the Lahore Registry.
