LAHORE: Former Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday has said that Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid’s end should be in political arena.
Reacting to Supreme Court’s verdict about Sheikh Rashid, Rana Sanaullah said that ousting a party leader poses negative effects on the politics. I am not in a support of disqualifying a politician on technical grounds, he added.
The ex-minister said that Sheikh Rashid will have political death on July 25.
Meanwhile, petitioner Shakeel Awan said that Sheikh Rashid has admitted to conceal facts and also apologized or it. My case was under hearing for 18 months and I was asked about trust on courts, he continued.
Awan said decision against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif didn’t come over Panama Leaks but iqama.
Earlier today, Supreme Court dismissed the disqualification petition against Sheikh Rashid.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat and comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Qazi Faez had reserved the verdict on March-20, 2018.
The short verdict which was announced by Justice Azmat came by a majority of 2-1. Justice Qazi issued a dissenting note saying that the case should be sent to full court.
