ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Monday has resumed hearing of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Avenfiled properties reference against Sharif family.
During the proceedings headed by Justice Muhammad Bashir, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar appeared in the court.
Defence lawyer Khawaja Harris is cross-examining the statement of head of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Wajid Zia.
Previously, the hearing of the case was adjourned till Monday without any proceeding due to illness of Justice Mohammad Bashir.
Nawaz Sharif said that being behind bars cannot stop him from leading his people. He said he does not want any such situation, but if it does occur, people will respond to his call even if he is sent to jail.
He further said that the NAB ordinance was made to target politicians. “When I was Attock Jail, NAB was formed,” he informed.
He supported the democratic process and said that he does not want any mishap in the country. He said he wants to see the process of development not getting interrupted by any force.
