UK teen convicted of museum attack plot with mother, sister

LONDON: A London teenager has been convicted of plotting an attack on the British Museum after failing in her ambition of become the bride of an extremist fighter.
A jury found 18-year-old Safaa Boular guilty Monday of preparing acts of terrorism. Her mother and sister have been convicted of helping her, in Britain’s first case involving an all-female cell of Daesh-inspired plotters.
Prosecutors say Boular plotted the attack in messages exchanged with a Daesh fighter in Syria. She hoped to marry him, but he was killed in 2017.
After Boular was arrested in April 2017 for trying to travel to Syria, she tried to enlist her 21-year-old sister Rizlaine to carry out an attack.
Rizlaine Boular and the sisters’ mother Mina Dich admitted terrorism offenses. All three will be sentenced later.
