US-Saudi talks: War on terror key topic

WASHINGTON: Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir held bilateral meetings with US Secretary of State John Kerry and National Security Adviser Susan Rice in Washington on Tuesday.  Utv Pakistan Report
Al-Jubeir also met with a number of US Senate leaders and members, including Ed Royce, chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, and US House Speaker Paul Ryan.
They discussed bilateral relations in all areas of mutual cooperation during the talks.
They also discussed a number of topics of mutual interest, especially the developments in Yemen and Syria, Middle East peace process, efforts to combat violence, extremism and terrorist groups, and other issues of common concern.
The talks took place as CIA Director John Brennan said recent attacks in Saudi Arabia bore the hallmarks of Daesh, and that the terrorist group was a very serious threat to the Kingdom, Reuters reported.
Suicide bombers struck three cities across Saudi Arabia earlier this month, killing at least 4 security officers. Those attacks bear the hallmarks of Daesh, Brennan said at an event hosted by the Brookings Institution think tank.
The explosions struck in Jeddah, Qatif and near the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, an attack Brennan described as “unprecedented.”
According to Reuters, Brennan said that while Al-Qaeda still posed a threat to Saudi Arabia, Daesh posed a greater danger to the kingdom.
Terrorists have carried out similar bombings in the Kingdom in the past year.Utv-Line
