'Hurting Israel more than helping' Biden on Netanyahu approach to Gaza war - UTV Pakistan

WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden expressed his concerns about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to the conflict in Gaza during an interview aired on Saturday. Biden stated that Netanyahu’s actions are causing more harm than good to Israel, and his impatience with the Israeli leader is becoming increasingly evident.

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deteriorate, Biden is facing criticism from the left wing of his party. He made conflicting statements regarding a potential Israeli offensive on Rafah in southern Gaza, mentioning a red line but also emphasizing Israel’s right to defend itself.

While Biden acknowledged Netanyahu’s right to protect Israel and combat Hamas, he stressed the importance of considering the innocent lives lost in the process. He believes that Netanyahu’s actions are ultimately detrimental to Israel’s interests.

When asked about Israel’s potential invasion of Rafah, where many civilians currently reside, Biden’s stance was somewhat ambiguous. He mentioned a red line but also underscored the necessity of Israel’s defense.

Despite his concerns, Biden has not supported calls to cut the military aid that the US provides to Israel. Gaza has been under heavy bombardment by Israel since a Hamas attack on October 7, resulting in numerous casualties.

When questioned about the possibility of another trip to Israel, Biden was non-committal. He stated that he would consider it but did not confirm whether he had been invited.
