SIALKOT: Khawaja Asif, a prominent leader of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former defense minister, made a significant statement on Sunday regarding the party’s stance on political stability in the country. Asif expressed the PML-N’s willingness to assume the role of the opposition in order to ensure a stable political environment.

He also revealed that discussions are underway within the PML-N leadership about the possibility of forming a coalition government with the Peoples Party (PPP) at the national level, with promising progress being made in this regard.

In Punjab, Asif confidently stated that the PML-N has the capability to independently form the government. He expressed his concern about the tendency of political leaders to backtrack on their previous statements, which ultimately leads to disappointment among the public as decisions are often driven by personal ambitions for power rather than national interests.

Emphasizing the importance of politicians prioritizing the welfare of the nation over personal gains, Asif highlighted the existing partnership between PML-N and PPP. He also addressed the issue of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s unexpected engagement with the PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, despite previously accusing them of election rigging. Asif underscored the crucial link between economic stability and political stability in the country.

Regarding the delayed admission by the Rawalpindi commissioner after nine days, Asif questioned the commissioner’s involvement in the election process, clarifying that the District Returning Officer and Returning Officer are the key figures in charge. Asif also mentioned the establishment of an inquiry commission to uncover the truth within a three-day timeframe.
