The Punjab Assembly officially approved the budget for the financial year 2023-24 during a session presided over by Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan. The session kicked off with a series of votes and discussions on the annual budget and fiscal demands, which included 42 demands and seven cut motions.

The debate was initiated by opposition members who raised concerns about specific budget allocations. Sunni Ittehad Council leader Imtiaz Sheikh particularly criticized the treasury for allocating charity seats for women. Tensions escalated when Imtiaz Sheikh and government member Khalil Tahir Sandhu engaged in a heated argument.

The situation intensified further as opposition members gathered around the speaker’s dais, chanting “Shame Shame” slogans. The atmosphere in the assembly became charged with emotion as both sides passionately defended their positions.
