Deputy PM Ishaq Dar to lead Pakistan delegation at OIC Summit

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will lead the Pakistani delegation at the 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in Banjul, Gambia on May 4-5.

The Foreign Office announced in a press release on Wednesday that Dar will also attend the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting before the summit on May 2-3. During this meeting, ministers will discuss and finalize the agenda and outcome documents for the summit.

The summit is happening at a crucial time for the Muslim Ummah, especially with the ongoing conflict in Gaza. This is a significant opportunity for OIC leaders to address the situation in Gaza and show a united stance on the Palestinian issue.

At the Summit, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister will talk about Pakistan’s views on the ongoing situation in Gaza, the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, the importance of unity in the Ummah, rising Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism, and other global challenges.

The statement also highlights the need to find collective solutions to the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.

During the summit, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister will also have meetings with other leaders and foreign ministers in attendance.
