SIALKOT: Rehana Dar and Ruba Umer Dar, independent candidates supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), organized a protest rally in Sialkot to denounce the alleged rigging in the February 8 elections. The protesters proudly waved PTI and national flags, expressing their discontent with the election process.

Rehana Dar, an independent candidate backed by PTI in NA-71, confidently expressed her belief that the court would rule in her favor, as she firmly believed she had won the election. As the mother of former PTI leader Usman Dar, Rehana Dar claimed to possess undeniable evidence of rigging and vowed to present it in court.

She also revealed that she had obtained videos of rigging involving the District Police Officer (DPO), Deputy Commissioner (DC), and Returning Officer (RO), and informed Khawaja Asif that she would continue protesting until justice was served.

Rehana Dar mentioned that her petition had been approved by the Lahore High Court for a hearing, indicating that her claims were being taken seriously. She accused Khawaja Asif, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), of colluding with the RO to manipulate the election results, despite her having a lead of 65,000 votes.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) results, Khawaja Asif won the election with a margin of approximately 18,000 votes. However, his victory has been challenged by his opponent in the Lahore High Court, adding further complexity to the situation.
