Jamaat-e-Islami elected Hafiz Naeemur Rehman as new emir
In Lahore, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman emerged victorious in the election for the new leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) after securing the majority of votes on Thursday.
The Central Shura members nominated three candidates to lead the Jamaat, namely Sirajul Haq, Liaquat Baloch, and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. Following a decision by the majority of Jamaat-e-Islami members, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was elected as the leader and is set to serve until 2029.
Siraj-ul-Haq previously held the position of JI Chief from 2014, serving for a decade. Notable past leaders of the Jamaat include Syed Manwar Hasan, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Mian Tufail Muhammad, and Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi, who established the Jamaat in 1941.
