RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League leader and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed confidently declared on Monday that his prediction about Shehbaz Sharif surpassing Nawaz in politics had come true.

Addressing the media outside the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi, Rashid revealed that he had received copies of three cases related to the May 9 incident.

He disclosed that there were a total of 17 cases against him in connection to the incident, with 11 of them currently being heard in the anti-terrorism courts. Rashid assured that he would be present at the upcoming court hearing.

The seasoned politician emphasized that he had foreseen Shehbaz’s rise in politics long before it happened. He stressed the importance of competent individuals leading the country while advocating for the release of innocent individuals from overcrowded jails. Rashid urged people to speak up and defend themselves in court rather than passively waiting for release orders.

Furthermore, Rashid underscored the government’s responsibility to support the impoverished and address their growing challenges. He called for a special pardon for the poor on the 27th of Ramadan to alleviate their suffering and propel Pakistan towards progress.
