Fazl condemns election fraud, coalition govt’s misguided policies
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), expressed his concern on Saturday that Pakistan is heading towards instability due to what he believes are misguided policies.
During a public gathering in Pishin, Fazl criticized the current coalition government, claiming it came to power through electoral fraud and lacks the moral authority to govern.
He pointed out that his party had previously challenged what they saw as rigged elections in 2018 and now believes that the 2024 elections were even more flawed. Fazl accused the ruling authorities of buying parliamentary seats in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh by spending large amounts of money.
Fazl promised that the JUI-F would strongly oppose the widespread electoral fraud in the 2024 elections and mentioned plans to expand their movement to Karachi and Punjab.
In a separate statement, JUI-F leader Rashid Mahmood Soomro announced that the party plans to hold a sit-in protest against the current government in Karachi on May 2. Soomro reiterated the party’s rejection of the 2018 elections and their refusal to accept the legitimacy of the recent polls.
