Punjab CM approves establishment of enforcement authority

CM Maryam instructs ACs to redress public grievances

In Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the green light for the creation of a provincial enforcement authority in Punjab.

Maryam chaired a meeting where she was briefed on the establishment of the authority at the district and tehsil level.

She approved the establishment of the authority and instructed to begin the legislative process immediately.

Maryam stated that enforcement authorities will be set up in every district and tehsil of Punjab. The chief secretary will lead the provincial enforcement authority, and a director-general will also be appointed.

The district enforcement authority will be led by the deputy commissioner, while the tehsil enforcement authority will be headed by the assistant commissioner.

These authorities will handle tasks related to encroachments on government lands, over-pricing, encroachment, and hoarding.

At the tehsil level, a police station and special force will be established under the tehsil enforcement unit. Various positions such as unit in charge, investigation officers, enforcement officers, and constables will be filled in the tehsil enforcement authority.

The tehsil enforcement unit will have the authority to file cases, conduct investigations, make arrests, and enforce the law. Offices for monitoring purposes will be set up for the provincial and district enforcement authorities.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed to activate the enforcement authorities throughout the province within six months.
